Scooter poll : do you think people whose only real disability is being overweight should be provided with…?

..those motorized scooters or wheelchairs that elderly people often use? I work in a hospital environment, and I often see people using the motorized scooters (the sit down kind), and their only “disability” appears to be that they are overweight.

Do you think people with weight issues should be provided with scooters like that? Doesn’t it only discourage exercise, and perhaps even make the problem worse? What do you think?

Not unless they’re overweight because of some other disability or because they truly cannot help being overweight.

That would exclude about 90% of them.

I know what you mean I see way too many over weight people on them
like they should be trying to walk for exercise I do realize its hard for them to get around but at least try

No, I don’t think they should be, and yes, I think it contributes to it.

I agree with you. And they treat you like crap because they think you are looking down on them for riding in them and being overweight. One day one of those women drove over my foot with her scooter and didnt say a word about it. Not a sorry, bite me, nothing. And I know she felt it because I watched her bounce up and down as she drove over my foot. They want people to feel sorry for them, but some of them make it impossible!
