In the game of Scategories, an opponent listed a wheelchair as furniture. Is this a valid piece of furniture?

Nowhere does the Americans with Disabilities Act (that I can find) list a wheelchair as being a piece of furniture (like a desk or table) but rather, only as a mobility device. Furthermore, no furniture stores carry wheelchairs.

Yep–It’s a chair that happens to have wheels.

*There is more than one definition of furniture.

    “Furniture
    Fur”ni*ture\, n. [F. fourniture. See Furnish, v. t.]

    1. That with which anything is furnished or supplied; supplies; outfit; equipment.”

I would say no, unless a skateboard, car, bike, or Segway could be considered furniture. They are all vehicles.

Definitely not. I haven’t seen any at The Room Store or Rooms to Go or any place like that. The only place I’ve seen wheelchairs for sale are medical supply companies.

Holt School Dictionary of American English lists furniture as movable articles such as tables, desks, chairs, beds, etc

OscarFurniture.com offers a complete line of recliners, beds, wheelchairs (all with or without lifts/tilt and massage) as well as mobile tables, bedside drawer units, and lowered wardrobes with the handicapped person in mind. I would think, since there is at least one web site that considers wheelchairs furniture, there might be more.
    Hope this helps!! Good luck!
