Just been awarded High Rate CARE (Disability Living Allowance)…. Advice please..?

Originally I was claiming D.L.A at Middle Rate CARE and Low Rate MOBILITY.

Just been awarded High Rate CARE for Paranoid Schizophrenia and MOBILITY Rate staying same. But I wanted High Rate MOBILITY….

That is because I have misaligned knee caps, weak ankles from a child hood injury that sometimes give way causing me to collapse, chronic muscle pain in my legs and severe Asthma which leaves me breathless.

I believe I would qualify on the “Can only walk a short distance before feeling severe discomfort” criteria.

I phoned up D.W.P Office (who deal with D.L.A) and they said that when I have received the Decision Letter to phone them back and say I want a “Re-Consideration”.

Also I now have further proof of Mobility Issues via letters from my Doctor which would go in my favour.

I know people who have ran the marathon who get High Rate MOBILITY who SHOULDN’T get it. I am not being greedy by wanting it. I feel because of my disabilities I should get it like other Disabled people.

For the record, I am registered as “Disabled” and have a Blue Badge. I was also allocated a DownStairs Flat via Direct Match Scheme (For Disabled) meaning I didn’t have to bid on properties or wait on a list to get a flat.

I am worried that if I ask for a “Re-Consideration” that I’ll put the High Rate CARE in jeopardy as it is my belief that they look at the whole claim again. Do you think I should just leave it be or ask them to “Re-Consider”?

Oh and my last question, Do they JUST look at the MOBILITY side again or do they take the WHOLE claim into consideration when looking again?

1. Please don’t tell me I am a “Benefit Scrounger” because I am NOT. I worked since age 13 doing menial jobs to give my Mum money until I could work properly at age 16. I became to ill to work when my Schizophrenia became really bad.

2. Please don’t tell me to get a job. I tried to get off Benefit’s by doing “Permitted Work” and lasted 2 days. I couldn’t cope with everyone staring at me and thinking they were going to attack me. Also, I wear a layer of tin foil under my hat when I go out so people can’t read my thoughts. I wasn’t allowed to wear it to work (Argos). I lasted 2 days!

I Have Asperger’s Syndrome, How Do I Apply For DLA?

I’m 20, have asperger’s syndrome and was recently turned down for DLA (disability living allowance) due to the fact i don’t need help with care or mobility, but asperger’s is still regarded as a disability therefore i should still be entitled to it, shouldn’t i?

It’s it a contradiction that asperger’s is a disability but doesn’t qualify for DLA. Although i don’t need help with care or mobility i do have problems which make it harder to find employment.

General survey: Have you ever had to use a wheelchair for mobility?

Not for fun or for a lesson in disability – but for real. Either using now permanently or temporary due to accident or sporting injury?

my girl friend was diagnosed with h.m. e.d. she has had 12 knee surgerys, 2 shoulder surgerys, she is hyper mobile in almost every joint. she has applied for disability 3 times only to be denied. she has enlisted legal help but it is moving very slowly. i just wonder if anyone out there has had problems getting disability and what other problems you may have encountered. she has been fighting this for about 9 years and is 41 now. each passing year is more difficult for her. i have done research on the web, but have not talked to anyone who has personally had this.
every dr. she has ever seen has provided a mountain of documentation to support her claim. every dr has said it is the worst case they have ever seen. her last visit to a podiatrist (2 days ago) revealed that her feet are now affected. once again the dr was amazed at the progression and her relative young age to be at this level. the main reason for the denials has been because of her age. it just slays me when i see people who are obese or alcholics/ druggies who have chosen the lifestyle they have, and they had no problem getting disability. for the record she is in colorado

where do i get an I.D. for public transportation if you have a disability?

um appologies if this does not make sense but im just wondering if there is some sort of Identification you can use on the trolley that states you paid for a month to use the trolley. im 17 and I usualy don’t travel on public transportation unless im on mobility lessons however I have noticed that some people just flash some sort of I.D. i could be wrong since im visual impaired and I cant really notice certain things from far away.
But would i be able to get some sort of identification that states i have a disability when I use the public transportation system in sandiego? if so is there some where to go to get it?

I am 42 and a virgin and also have cerebral palsy which means that although I can walk my balance and mobility are limited.

My problem is that although I am disabled I have all the needs of any other man including sexually but don’t know how to deal with these feelings.

I masturbate regularly but am lonely and need to feel love just like anybody else. All people ever see is my disability and not me as a person with needs I suppose that people don’t think that I would need sex. I feel like I am going to explode if I don’t do something about it.

Is there anybody out there who is in a similar situation or somebody who can give me some advice

How much does a person get for disability? Is it enough to live off of?

Im 33 and had a second back surgery a little over a year ago (lumbar fusion) that has left me even worse than before the surgery. Before I could pick up about 40 lbs, now I can pick up under 10 lbs. I have barely any mobility in my back and am in horrible pain daily and not able to live comfortably w/o pain meds. I am unable to work anymore and need to go on disability…but I want to know what will I get? Is it based on your current income or how many years youve been working, or what? Is it enough to survive off of?

In Arizona, if (when)I get disability , I heard that my kids going to get some too?

I am still fairly young but can in general advise that I have had many open heart surgeries and will have many more for the rest of my life. I have mobility problems due to constant horrible pain in my legs and feet due to some major nerve bundles being partialy but severely severed and I have several strokes during my last surgery… went thru rehab (physical) and tried my best to go back to work at my job of nine years but ended up losing the job as I could no longer keep up plus too many Dr. visits etc (even after FMLA).

My question, is that I believe I will be getting $1300 or so a month once approved, but I’ve hear that you also get a separate amount for your children. My DH and I have 2 (ages 8 &10). Does anyone have any info on that??

If so, how much will it be? We have been waiting forever (disability is WAY backed up due to all of the FRAUD out there!) We have come so close to losing everything. You’re not able to get unemployment if you are filing for Dis.

So please! Somebody who knows, give me some light at the end of the tunnel… will I get more for my 2 kids, if so about how much more? An est is fine.
